FOLDING TIME begins with a second political exile, when memory itself becomes unstable. What remains available to recall, and what has already been shaped by the conditions in which it was lived? Can memory ever be entirely personal when power has determined what could be seen, spoken, feared, or forgotten?

I return to images and individual accounts I refuse to let disappear: people I have lost, and lives shaped by dictatorship, occupation, exclusion, and the normalization of violence in everyday life. What is absent does not simply disappear. It persists in what can no longer be said, shown, or passed on, and in what remains with those who survive.

The body carries these histories into every new space. Their traces may be visible, but visibility does not make them legible. What is seen can be interpreted, projected onto, and named without knowing what has shaped it. Each room encounters the body from within its own present, with its own conditions of belonging: who may enter, who may speak, who is expected to adapt, and who is expected to remain silent. But time does not begin again when the room changes. What came before enters with us.

Within the installation, histories return in partial and altered forms. Images, words, and bodies meet without settling into a single account. What has been remembered, displaced, withheld, lost, or retained remains in tension; no single version becomes complete.

FOLDING TIME is one iteration of an ongoing project, taking different forms as it enters different spaces. It remains both a declaration of presence and an unresolved position: a way of remaining within histories that cannot be made fully present and cannot simply be left behind.
